Princely Prize on Offer to mark Royal WeddingA PANOPLY of crowns will be scattered around Marlow town centre for shoppers to go on a Royal wedding adventure. To mark the big day of Prince William and Kate Middleton Marlow Chamber of Trade have organised a regally themed competition involving traders. Starting on the wedding day itself – April 29 – visitors to the town will spot a number of crowns displayed in shop windows and in pubs. If they successfully count the right number participants will be in the running for three top prizes donated by the shops involved. The idea was hatched to attract more trade and help shoppers join in the celebratory spirit of the occasion. The chamber has run similar contests in the past two years – an April Fools event and a scarecrow trail. Chamber President Annie Mulady said: “Because the scarecrow and April Fools trails were so successful we thought it would be nice to do something around the Royal wedding. “As an opportunity to pull visitors into the town and get residents to shop here as well. “It's a fun day out for all.” Shoppers will also be asked on their competition forms to say which store had the best window display. The Prince of Wales pub, Mekong, Zest Cleaners and Chocolatte are among the 20 plus businesses taking part. The competition will be running until the following Bank Holiday Monday night. Forms can be found at participating stores. Article published in Bucks Free Press on 13th April 2011, written by James Nadal. |
