GERANIUM THIEVES ARE ON THE LOOSE IN MARLOWThe colourfully petalled plants, part of a display in the town centre, have been plucked from the ground, leaving one flower bed looking rather sparse. Marlow Chamber of Trade is responsible for the flower displays and offers businesses the chance to sponsor them. The decorative plants have been taken from near the Cross Keys pub in Spittal Street while there are others in Anglers Court. The chamber has decided to switch some of the geraniums, originally planted in June, into the bare bed.
Chamber secretary Jo Braybrooke said: “We keep replacing them but they keep getting nicked. “We're not going to do that forever. “It happened last year as well, you can see the holes where they've been pulled out. “I know money is tight, but really. You do your best and that's what you get.” The police have not been contacted. Article published in Bucks Free Press on 15th August 2011, written by James Nadal. |
