MINUTES OF BUSINESS MEETING HELD
MONDAY 15th FEBRUARY 2016 – 6:00PM
There were 35attendees
The meeting began with a welcome from the Marlow Chamber President. Anthony Cox General Manager of Danesfield Hotel and Liz Gibney – Manager of Danesfield Spa also gave a welcome and details of the forthcoming events to celebrate 25th anniversary of the hotel. Members were invited to have a tour of the spa facilities following the meeting.

3. Minutes of last meeting
Signed as a true record with the following amendments requested by Mr. Spittle. Bucks Business Group should read 1.99%.

5. Update on Chamber matters by the President
Parking – A meeting had been held with Marlow Society to agree a set of suggestions but the President would welcome suggestions from members.
Business Rates – Sara Hughes had agreed to put a team together and would welcome any members wishing to join in order to discuss the situation.
Recruitment – Mr. Heighway, Mr. Bower and the President would be visiting retailers in the town to invite them to a meeting with a view to joining the Chamber.
Constitution – there were a few changes to be made to the Chamber Constitution details of which would be e-mailed out to members for agreement at the March meeting.
Member to Member offers – 4 had been received and were now on the web site.
e-mail magazine – only one contribution received so far.
6. Planning – Mr Paul Deriaz
Mr. Deriaz gave details together with a visual presentation of the proposed Costco warehouse to be situated next to the NEXT site at Cressex Island. He would welcome any feedback from members before sending in comments to the planners.
7. Martins Matters – Mr Martin Spittle
Mr. Spittle outlined matters on data protection, income tax and inheritance tax. Full details and information can be found under “Martins Matters” on the Chamber web site.
8. Presentation from new member Don Pennant
Pennant Associates specialise in the protection of brand names and trade marks etc. His message is “prevention is better than cure” and was happy to discuss any issues with members. For more details n how Don can assist visit his web site on www.donpennant.com or telephone 07789 104930.
9. Emotional Intelligence – a member presentationb by Crown Coaching
Helen Isacke of Crown Coaching gave details of 5 main points to being a successful employer/manager. She had copies of her book “Soft Skills for Strong Leaders – Ten Steps to Management Success”. For further details please visit her web site www.crowncoaching.com
10. A.O.B & Items to Share
Bucks Skills Hub – Lynette Gogay is still looking for more businesses to take part in the scheme which connects schools with businesses. Anyone interested in learning more should contact Lynette on firstname.lastname@example.org
Stephanie Wooller of “The Challenge” is working with 15-17 year old students helping to build skills during a “Dragons Den” type of session and was looking for local businesses to take part. Anyone interested should contact Stephanie on
Town Mayor’s Charity Dinner – The President gave details of the dinner to be held on 21st February and encouraged members to join with him to make up a table of 10.
Enterprise Doctor – Mark Harris gave details of his new scheme to those members who work from home. For more details contact Mark on email@example.com or visit his web site.
Wycombe General Hospital – the Secretary had recently had an operation and wished to mention the great care she had received during her stay at the hospital.
Business rates – Cllr. Collingwood and Cllr. Brown would be happy to join the team looking into the situation with regard to increasing business rates.
Globe Park – Cllr. Collingwood – all involved were working together with regard to car parking issues.
Meet Marlow Businesses – Mr. Heighway gave details of a forthcoming event at Liston Hall on Saturday 14th May. Further details would be available shortly.
Executive Committee – the President mentioned that unfortunately Ms. Mulady had stood down from the Executive due to work commitments. He was looking for a member to take on her role as PR/press officer.
There being no further business the meeting closed at 7.10pm and was followed by the kind hospitality of Danesfield House/Spa and networking.
