Adventure Learning Foundation at Longridge
Posted on September 6th, 2017
Are you someone looking for brilliant team building with a charitable side. Our charity has a non-existent marketing budget and we completely rely on word of mouth, so our challenge for this Autumn is to persuade more companies to use us for team building!
Our charity, the Adventure Learning Foundation, runs three beautiful outdoor activity centres that provide amazing outdoor adventure for young people – often young people with extreme life challenges to overcome, these could be physical, emotional or environmental. I have personally seen time and time again the difference that our training using adventurous activities has on these young people, giving them the confidence and resilience they need to make positive life choices. Every year over 250,000 young people visit our centres, and each will have an experience that will allow them to become the great person they are supposed to be.
Our charity doesn’t get any external funding. We completely rely on people using us to fund the great work we do. I am writing to ask you to use us for your companies next team building event. I am not asking you to pay any more, or make a donation. Simply have a great time and give your team challenging activities that they will enjoy, which will encourage them to work together and understand one another better. We could also feed you one of our very tasty choices of food, and if you want to make this an overnight experience, we can offer a range of local accommodation (or camping, if you’re feeling brave or just really don’t like your team!).
You have the choice of three locations; each offering a brilliant but slightly different experience. Or you could be very supportive and use all three!
Longridge is in Marlow. It nestles on the banks of the River Thames and provides a huge range of water and land activities. All of the activities are challenging, fun and each lasts 90-minutes. We can provide a range of catering from basic sandwiches, to a riverside BBQ or even top end nosh. The choice is up to your budget. As is accommodation, as you could really challenge your team and put them under canvas, or you can also treat them to the Complete Angler which is a short walk from the centre. In addition we have budget hotels and B&Bs on our doorstep
Green Park is in Aston Clinton, a small village near Aylesbury. It is an ex Rothschild estate full of beautiful mature trees and parkland, amongst which are our ropes courses, archery, mountain biking and climbing activities. We have an indoor pool and a similar range of catering and accommodation options to Longridge. You would simply need to let us know your budget and we would work out the best programme and choices for you.
Royal Docks Adventure is in Docklands, opposite City Airport and is our urban centre. It benefits from exclusive use of Royal Albert Dock and is ideal for a regatta in either rowing or dragon boats. You could consider a couple of training sessions at Longridge before you create your own regatta at Docks. Perhaps you are a law firm and would like to challenge a competitor to a dragon race? We have a considerable range of catering options, the most popular being the YiBan Chinese restaurant which is based at the centre and is absolutely delicious (I can personally recommend the dumplings). Accommodation is in the four hotels opposite ranging from a Holiday Inn to a Hilton, all of whom we have negotiated preferential rates of around £70 a night (depending on what is going on at Excel). With plenty of parking this is a perfect location for an urban adventure!
You can find out more about our activities at www.alfvillages.org.uk or www.royaldocksadventure.org.uk.

Prices for a team building day would start at around £50 per person, with catering starting at £15 per person. If you want to make a night of it (I read a recent leadership piece which said that spending a night together – not necessarily in the same room! – was a hugely positive team bonding experience) then you have options of camping at £5 to hotels at £70 a night. We can also provide meeting rooms and most other things you might need to make your team building experience hugely successful.
All of what you will be doing will support our charitable endeavours – just by having a great time that creates a more harmonious team.
If you would like to know more, then please get in touch with me and I will personally make sure you have a great team adventure with us.
