Our Featured Business - Thebestofmarlow

 

Thebestofmarlow is all about finding and promoting the best businesses in Marlow and the surrounding area.  We meet potential clients to chat to them about how we can help and support their business. We ask for testimonials, and once they are business members we encourage businesses to gain more testimonials from their clients and customers with our branded postcards.

 

Our business members are featured on our website www.thebestof.co.uk/marlow along with their testimonials.  Our business members also promote their companies by posting special offers. These are also sent once a week to our database.

 

We send 3 newsletters to our database, a fortnightly business newsletter that goes out to our business database.  Two other newsletters go out to our entire database weekly. One is our Special Offers newsletter and the other is our events newsletter.  All these newsletters feature our business members on a rotational basis.

 

We hold regular networking evenings. These take the form of an informal early evening gathering where you can talk and get to know other business owners over a glass of wine and nibbles.  There may be a presentation and you will be given an attendee list.  We will be happy to introduce you to people you may wish to meet.

 

We call ourselves “word of mouth” specialists.  We are meeting businesses all the time and as well as thebestofmarlow we also own thebestofhenleyonthames and thebestofmaidenhead.  We often put businesses in touch with each other.  We are asked if we know of particular businesses and we know so many we can usually help.  In fact we use the businesses ourselves and have an extensive address book.  Social media has also enabled us to expand this concept further.  We add regular bogs that are fed to our Twitter account @gillianchappell if you want to follow me.  We also tweet about business members too.

 

Earlier I mentioned our events page. We feature events run by our business members but we are also very happy to add events for non-profit organisations.  You can do this yourself by registering on the site. For more information, please contact me.

Duncan & Bailey-Kennedy are a Commercial Property Practice based in Marlow and High Wycombe, dealing with all aspects of commercial property. 2009 was a challenging year for us all, but Marlow seems to have weathered the storm comparatively well, certainly on the retail front.

 

Marlow High Street started 2009 looking a little bleak, with at least 14 vacant units in the town at one point. As Easter passed we started to see a upturn in retail enquiries, and over the course of the next 6-9 months we completed the vast majority of retail lettings in the town centre, such as, JoJo Maman Bebe, Fenn Wright Manson, Phase Eight, Bradley Fine Jewellery with Links of London and Pandora, Wycombe District Council (relocating Tourist Information and new Post Office), J Wellington Jewellers, Boho, Word Processing Solutions and Woodstock of Ascot. There are a couple of exciting new occupiers in the pipeline, so watch out for some new retailers soon!

 

In 2009 we were also very active in the industrial sector, having sold or let over 50,000 sq ft of premises in Marlow alone, in a number of separate transactions on the Globe Park Estate, Rose Industrial Estate and Thames Industrial Estate.

 

The office market was particularly quiet during the year, being the hardest hit sector of all. However, we did see some notable transactions. 9,000 sq ft was let at Liston Exchange, the new office development to the rear of Liston Court. This was in two separate transactions, to a Pharmaceutical, and IT/Telecoms company.

 

Duncan & Bailey-Kennedy was the number one locally based firm for office lettings in the year to Sept 2009, with more lettings than both second and third locally based agents combined, according to Co-Star research figures.

 

We have offices in both Marlow and High Wycombe and specialise in all aspects of commercial property such as property disposals and acquisitions, together with rent reviews, lease renewals and businesses rates advice. We also have a dedicated management department covering a wide geographical area.

 

We have proved particularly strong in the retail, investment and development markets, and feel that 2010 will be exciting year in this respect.
